Strandberg Engineering Laboratories, Inc.: Microwave Moisture Sensor (posted 8/20/08)

The type 9900 microwave moisture sensor covers the full range of moisture measurement from 0% to full saturation.

The type 9900 microwave moisture sensor from Strandberg Engineering Laboratories, Inc. uses the latest microwave sensing technology to produce a non-contact moisture sensor that covers the full range of moisture measurement from 0% to full saturation. The 9900 sensor provides a linear output signal that can be connected to the model 7701 moisture monitor indicating controller, as well as to PLCs or other instrumentation.

Applications for the 9900 moisture sensor include measurement of moisture in webs and sheets, bulk solids and slurries; water-based coating pickup measurements; and measurements of materials before and after drying. The 9900 can be mounted above or below conveyors and materials to be measured, and it can sense moisture in materials flowing in pipes and ducts through a non-metallic window.

The optional 7701 moisture monitor provides LED display for moisture and LCD display with keyboard for entry of process parameters such as moisture set-point and alarm and control limits. The 7701 includes high and low alarm outputs, step-correction relay control outputs, and PID proportional control output. Series 1600 indicating controllers are also available for multi-channel measurement and control applications.
