Jay N. Strong, current president of AP Technoglass, has been appointed president of the Asahi Glass Co. (AGC) Global Automotive Strategic Business Unit (SBU), according to AGC president, Shinya Ishizu. Strong will relocate to Tokyo and officially begin his new assignment April 1, 2002. His assignment comes on the heels of AGC initiating a public stock tender offer for 90% of Glaverbel S. A., Europe's second largest glass producer; then announcing the realignment of its three regional auto glass and glazing organizations (Asia/Japan, Europe and North America) into one Global Automotive Fabrication SBU. The new streamlined organization will improve customer service and operating efficiencies as well as enhance mobilization and deployment of technologies on a global basis. AGC will also integrate its regional architectural glass organizations into one worldwide SBU. Strong has been with AP Technoglass since 1998, when he joined the company as executive vice president, and was later elevated to president. He is a recent graduate of Harvard's Advanced Management Program.
