PPG Industries' fiber glass business received 2003 Supplier of the Year honors for service to Strongwell Corp.'s Bristol and Highlands divisions in Virginia. The award represents Strongwell's highest supplier recognition for performance in quality of materials, cost of doing business and service. PPG provides continuous strand fiber glass rovings from its Chester, S.C., manufacturing facility for Strongwell's two Virginia operations. Matching the highest score in the award's seven-year history, PPG earned 93 of a possible 100 points from Strongwell's procurement team, comprising materials management, purchasing, receiving, quality, engineering, accounting and production employees. This is the second year in a row PPG placed as a top-10 Strongwell supplier and the first time a fiber glass manufacturer has won Supplier of the Year honors.
