Superconductive Components Awarded Patent

Superconductive Components, Inc. recently announced it has been awarded a patent from the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office for a new process to join two individual strongly linked super-conductors using a melt processing technique. This enabling technology permits crystals to be grown so that they have the characteristics of a single grain but the benefits of superconductors with more complex shapes and geometries. The process removes size and shape limitations of superconductors currently being produced, which can lead to more practical and cost effective manufacturing techniques. Additionally, it addresses challenges that have inhibited widespread application of high- temperature superconducting (HTS) devices due to insufficient current carrying capabilities.
