The Cherokee Pottery Tradition

Author Anna Fariello has recently published a new book about the history of Cherokee pottery.

A new book entitled Cherokee Pottery: From the Hands of Our Elders has recently been released as the result of a shared effort by the Museum of the Cherokee Indian, the Qualla Arts and Crafts Mutual, and Western Carolina University's Hunter Library in Cullowhee, N.C. Author Anna Fariello, who is an associate research professor at the university, was awarded grants from the State Library of North Carolina and the Blue Ridge National Heritage Area Partnership to aid in her investigation of regional Cherokee and mountain crafts.

Her new book describes traditional Cherokee pottery and its revival movement through historical accounts and archival images. The book is available from the Museum of the Cherokee Indian at www.cherokeemuseum.org.
