Tiles By "R" Design, Salt Lake City, Utah, recently placed a new Kilnman(TM) drying system into production. Ceramic Services, Inc. was contracted to design, supply and install the new drying system. The Kilnman drying system is a positive pressure system that provides programmable control for air, temperature and humidity. This systems' controlled drying process is used in drying ceramic tiles, after molding without transfer, to less than >1% moisture for the firing process. The new drying system has resulted in improved scrap rates, lowered drying times, overall cost savings and increased productivity.
