A paper-like battery electrode developed by a Kansas State University engineer may improve tools for space exploration or unmanned aerial vehicles. Gurpreet Singh, associate professor of mechanical and nuclear engineering, and his research team have created the battery electrode using silicon oxycarbide-glass and graphene.

Acme Brick Co. executives, including President and CEO Dennis Knautz, recently joined Springdale, Ark., Mayor Doug Sprouse and other local officials to turn the first shovels of soil for Acme’s new showroom and warehouse at 4877 N. 45th St. The facility, comprising a 6,256-sq-ft showroom and office, as well as a 14,494-sq-ft warehouse, will sit on 5.78 acres of property that will provide ample customer parking.
