MoreToshiba America Electronic Components Inc. (TAEC) recently announced it will sell and support the silicon nitride bearing ball blanks and engine components manufactured by Toshiba Materials Co. Ltd. These products, formerly represented by Enceratec, a joint venture of Cummins Inc. and Toshiba Materials Co. Ltd., will now be available direct from TAEC to customers in Europe and North America.
“The addition of Toshiba Material’s silicon nitride bearing blanks product line will complement the diverse collection of other advanced material-based products currently available from TAEC,” said Jim Walker, director of business development with the Advanced Materials Division of TAEC. “Hybrid ball bearings are now being used in a growing number of applications ranging from machine tool spindles and windmills to the main engine turbo pumps on the space shuttle. Hybrid bearings enable rotating machine systems to attain significantly higher speeds and improved reliability, even in lubrication-starved environments.”
