Tosoh Announces Global Brand Name

Tosoh Corp. has announced that all Tosoh affiliated quartz fabrication companies throughout the world will be unified under the name TOSOH Quartz, effective January 1, 2001.

Tosoh Corp. has announced that all Tosoh affiliated quartz fabrication companies throughout the world -- namely Cryco Quartz, Inc.; Nippon Silica Glass Europe Ltd.; Weiss Glass Technologies, Inc.; Weiss Scientific Glass Blowing Co.; Nippon Silica Glass Co., Ltd.; and Tosoh Quartz Taiwan Co., Ltd. -- will be unified under the name TOSOH Quartz, effective January 1, 2001. "This unification will bring about a more efficient utilization of resources, through the sharing of information and technology as well as research and development and marketing efforts," said Shinji Kurata, managing director of Tosoh Corp.'s Quartz Division. "It is our goal to support the semiconductor industry through constant technological innovations, and we believe the best way to achieve this is by making the utmost use of our advantageous global quartz network. We are very excited about the synergy that will result from the unification."
