Turner Retires, Tabor Named President and COO of Allied Mineral (posted 4/29/09)

Turner will serve as a consultant to Allied until October in order to complete projects and facilitate the transition of top management.

John L. Turner, president and chief operating officer (COO), retired from Allied Mineral Products, Inc. March 31, 2009, after more than 38 years of service. He will serve as a consultant to Allied until October 2009 in order to complete projects and facilitate the transition of top management responsibilities.

Jon R. Tabor has been promoted to the positions of president and COO, reporting to Jon K. Tabor, chief executive officer and chairman. Tabor is in his 19th year with Allied and most recently served as executive vice president and general manager. Prior to Allied, he worked 10 years at Eli Lilly and Co., a worldwide producer of pharmaceuticals and medical equipment.

Turner started with Allied on December 1, 1970, after having worked for several years for the Norton Co. in Worcester, Mass. During his time with Allied, he held the positions of sales engineer, product manager, and vice president of Operations and Technology. Turner was promoted to executive vice president and general manager in 1985 and joined the Allied board of directors in 1987. Named president and COO in 2001, Turner will remain as a member of Allied’s board of directors.

In addition, the company also announced several promotions: Douglas K. Doza to executive vice president; Dana G. Goski, Ph.D., to director of Research; Peter L. Satre to manager of Engineering; Robert L. Wilson to manager of Design Engineering; David N. Stanic to senior regional sales manager, Foundry; Brett M. Spychalski to Matrix sales manager; Bruce A. Voisine to Eastern regional sales manager, replacing John Bissell, who retired March 31, 2009; and Laura C. Irwin to manager of Inside Sales, Steel. Ron G. Brenneman has reduced his work hours and is now manager of Special Projects.
