Unifrax Corp: Excelfrax Microporous Insulation

Unifrax Corp. recently introduced its Excelfrax(R) microporous insulation. The Excelfrax family of products is based on the microporous insulation principle, exhibiting extremely efficient insulating characteristics in the North American market. The material is composed of inorganic oxides, primarily fumed silica, and silicates and opacifiers are added to improve the material performance. Microporous insulation products actually have thermal conductivity values lower than still air, due to their ability to block the three modes of heat transfer (conduction, convection and radiation). The Excelfrax product line offers a number of advantages, including extremely low thermal conductivity, thermal stability, consistent operating temperatures and easy fabrication. Excelfrax is manufactured exclusively for Unifrax by Wacker Chemie GmbH.
