Union Process recently produced a custom dry grinding attritor to meet the specific needs of one of its customers. As a manufacturer of ceramic products, the customer needed to grind ceramic materials, specifically alumina and zirconium, in a metal-free environment. After reviewing and analyzing the customer's specifications and requirements, Union Process recommended a dry grinding SD-100 attritor, which is versatile and easy to maintain. To maximize efficiency for this specific application, the mill was automated to run in batch mode with pneumatically operated discharge valves. Featuring a gross tank capacity of 155 gal, the custom SD-100 was equipped with tungsten carbide sleeved arms and a ceramic-lined tank to provide a complete metal-free system.
