MoreRio Tinto recently announced that John Varley will join the boards of Rio Tinto plc and Rio Tinto Ltd. as a non-executive director on September 1. Varley’s career includes 28 years at global financial services provider Barclays, where he spent six years as chief executive. He currently holds non-executive directorships at AstraZeneca plc and BlackRock Inc. In addition, he remains a senior advisor to Barclays and is a member of the International Advisory Panel of the Monetary Authority of Singapore.
