The new automated sieve certification system (ASCS) from Vision Machines enables users to certify test sieves in-house, in minutes. Test sieves wear over time based on usage and materials being sieved. If sieves are used to determine proper particle sizing, they must be periodically calibrated or replaced.
The most common methods for recertification involve tedious and error-prone manual measurement. The ASCS optical sieve calibrator automates the process using machine vision measurement and statistical analysis, providing time and cost savings, as well as confidence in data accuracy.
The new sieve certification system offers fast and accurate calibration of wire mesh sieves with full compliance to ASTM E11 and ISO 3310 standards. ASCS is a precision optical instrument that scans and measures openings and wire diameters, supporting sieves up to 18 in. in diameter with openings from 20 microns to 12.5 mm.
Each sieve is scanned for irregularities with state-of-the-art image analysis software, and calibration traceable to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Results are output to an Excel spreadsheet with full statistical analysis, including descriptive statistics, pass/fail information, compliance with standards and raw measurement data.
