WBB MINERALS recently announced that Fernando Fernandez has been appointed chief executive, following Graham Lawson's planned retirement. Formerly director general of WBB Espana, Fernandez's experience in the minerals industry is extensive. He held a broad range of senior positions with Rio Tinto and its subsidiaries, Luzenac and Borax, before joining the WBB Group in 1999. His appointment follows three years in charge of the company's Spanish operations. Lawson has been appointed deputy chairman of the WBB Group board and will retain his position on the executive management committee of parent company, Sibelco. WBB MINERALS' managing director, Howard Matthewson, has also announced his decision to leave the company and pursue opportunities outside the Sibelco Group. Fernandez will combine the roles of managing director and chief executive.

The company's website is located at http://www.wbbminerals.com.
