Wienerberger Acquires Salzburger Ziegelwerk (posted 12/4/07)

Wienerberger Ziegelindustrie GmbH acquired Salzburger Ziegelwerk GmbH & Co. (SZW) as of December 1, 2007.

Wienerberger Ziegelindustrie GmbH, the Austrian operating subsidiary of Wienerberger AG, acquired Salzburger Ziegelwerk GmbH & Co. (SZW) as of December 1, 2007. Salzburger Ziegelwerk operates a hollow brick plant in Oberndorf, roughly 15 km north of Salzburg, with an annual production capacity of 60 million NF.

During the 2006/2007 financial year, Salzburger Ziegelwerk generated revenues of approximately €4.7 million (~ $6.9 million) with 22 employees. The parties have agreed not to reveal any information on the price of the transaction.

“The acquisition of Salzburger Ziegelwerk GmbH & Co. will allow us to strengthen our market position in the western region of Austria and improve the earning power of our subsidiary,” said Johann Windisch, member of the Managing Board of Wienerberger AG with responsibility for the Central-East Europe segment.
