Carl Zeiss MicroImaging, Inc. recently announced a gift of three microscopes, with a combined value of $4500, to the Arlington School District of Putnam County, N.Y. The microscopes were donated as part of a special Zeiss Vision employee program on behalf of the Calahan, Gottlieb and Kruppenbacher families, all of whom have children attending Arlington Schools. Arlington High School and LaGrange Middle School both received Axiostar compound microscopes, and the high school also received a DV 4 stereomicroscope. The DV 4 stereomicroscope will enable students to view details of organisms like fruit flies and various aquatic flora and fauna, while the Axiostar microscopes will provide high-resolution views of prepared slides and fresh-mounts for the study of specific cell types and structures.
