Alumina castable type ZIRALCAST 95 from ZIRCAR Ceramics, Inc. is a high-purity, extra-high-alumina refractory castable composed primarily of pure fused alumina bubbles. ZIRALCAST 95 features a composition of 95.6% Al2O3, 3.8% CaO and 0.6% other oxides. It is a blend of Al2O3 bubbles and refractory cement with a uniform particle size of less than 4 mesh (5 mm). After an initial set time of 1-4 hours and a final set time of 7-10 hours, ZIRALCAST 95 reaches a bulk density of 1500 kgm3 (93.6 pcf). Its maximum use temperature is 1800C. Applications include furnace structural components such as flue liners/stacks, door vestibules and furnace crowns; furnace furniture, such as crucible holders in glass melting research; and covers for metal melting and transport systems.
