Friday Fun: Don't Try This at Home, Kids

January 16, 2009
By now, we’ve probably all seen the recent report about the little boy in Hammond, Ind., who got his tongue stuck to a light pole in the cold.

By now, we’ve probably all seen the recent report about the little boy in Hammond, Ind., who got his tongue stuck to a light pole in the cold. I laughed out loud when I read it, because it immediately reminded me of the time my little brother did exactly the same thing. Well, it was a fence post in his case, but you get the idea.

We’d just watched A Christmas Story, of course, and he wanted to see if it would really work. Boy, did it. We went back to that post for days afterward to see the little piece of his tongue that remained frozen to the metal. Ah, good times…good times.
