Focus on the Positive

It’s impossible to read the newspaper or turn on the news these days without being inundated with bad news. I don’t know about you, but when I see all of that bad news I actually start to feel a little defeated and pessimistic. I have to remind myself that good things are happening everywhere, all the time.

Toward that end, I’d like to start a new segment that will help us all Focus on the Positive. It’s similar to that old advice about smiling whenever you answer the phone. Even if you’re not feeling particularly cheerful, the person on the other end of the line can hear the smile in your voice. When we tell ourselves to stop for a minute and focus on the positive, we automatically start to feel more optimistic.

OK, I’ll kick it off: I’m really excited about the editorial we’re working on for the next issue of CI. It’s important to keep in mind that even in this extremely challenging environment, suppliers and manufacturers alike are innovating and looking to the future. I can’t wait to bring you their stories. On a personal note, my dogs didn’t try to eat anyone on our walk yesterday. Good news, for sure!

Links to some positive news stories from the past week are included below. Enjoy!

So what’s going on with you? Have you experienced a triumph, big or small? Did you solve that product development puzzle? Make a big sale? Save your company some money? Please share some of your good news by entering a comment below.
