MoreOhio’s Copley Township passed a ban this week on transient venders that will inadvertently bar all ice cream truck operations. City officials stress that the legislation was enacted specifically to combat over-aggressive door-to-door salespeople, not the ice cream trucks. However, according to the terms of the ban, permits for mobile ice cream vendors will not be renewed.
I can’t imagine summertime without the ubiquitous jingle of ice cream trucks and the accompanying screams of “Mom, it’s the ice cream man!! Can we get ice cream? Can we? Can we?” Everyone should stay tuned for reports of massive kid-led revolts in Copley. This could get sticky.
