It’s that coughing, sniffling, sore throat time of year. In last week’s CI CyberNews CyberPoll, we asked readers if they take sick time when they’re ill. Yes and no responses were split evenly at 26.3% each, while sometimes garnered 47.4% of responses.

Comments included:

“Vacation and personal time is given to be used - one should never feel guilt or concern using time allotted for such things. Use it or lose it!”

“If a worker is genuinely sick, why wouldn’t they take a sick day(s)? It’s amazing how many employees somehow feel that they owe some great measure of ‘superhuman’ effort and dedication to employers, such that the employee feels a sense of guilt in taking a sick day! No employer and no company is worthy of that degree of misguided loyalty!”

“Have to be really sick. Also have to save days for when kids are sick.”
