In last week’s CI CyberNews CyberPoll, we asked readers about the affect that the civil unrest in Egypt might have on oil prices. The majority (69.2%) of respondents think that the unrest will cause oil prices to spike in the near future, while 23.1% don’t think the unrest will have that affect. The remainder (7.7%) are unsure.

Comments included:

“If not directly, it will give oil companies a convenient excuse to do so.”

“Anytime there is geopolitical unrest, oil prices go up.”

“Yes, but only as an excuse to make more money. Why we buy oil from people that hate us instead of using our own resources in beyond reason.”

“Oil prices are already spiking for reasons other than Egypt, like the (unofficial) drilling moratorium in the gulf, and the fed QE2 program.”
