When I was younger, I distinctly remember shaking my head and rolling my eyes at parents, grandparents and all of the other adults who would always marvel at how fast time went by. I can’t tell you how many times I heard someone say it seemed like they hadn’t seen me since I was this high, or they couldn’t believe it was Christmas already.
I thought they were crazy. When I was a kid, my brother and sister and I - along with the rest of the neighborhood rabble - spent whole lifetimes just playing outside. We’d make up ridiculous games or just ride bikes like we were in the Indy 500. We had absolutely no sense of time; it seemed to go on forever.
Now I’m one of the old coots; it’s the second day of October and I didn’t even see it coming. It’s Fall! Has been for a while, apparently. It just doesn’t seem possible.
All right, I’m giving myself a mental shake and getting on with business. Our October issue is online, while your print issues should be arriving shortly. Enjoy!
