Tosoh Names New Chairman, New President

Tosoh Corp. recently announced that Madoka Tashiro will be named chairman of the board while continuing to serve as CEO. At the same time, Takashi Tsuchiya will assume the position of president and COO of the company. Tashiro, who currently serves as president and CEO, has had a long and distinguished career at Tosoh. In 1964, he established the company's first overseas office in New York and since then has been leading the company's global expansion. As chairman of the board, he will continue to be actively involved in the company¿s global expansion. Tsuchiya has been a Tosoh employee for more than 30 years. Built upon his technical background, his successful career has encompassed a variety of positions in manufacturing, research and strategic activities. In 1994, he was promoted to department head of corporate strategy and planning, the position he currently holds. He has been serving on the board of directors since 1995 and is currently a senior managing director. The changes will take effect on June 28, 2001, when nominations take place during the board of directors' meeting.
