Lucifer Furnaces, Inc. has published a new brochure describing its large atmosphere muffle furnaces. The 5000 AM models are equipped with a corrugated alloy retort that contains the protective atmosphere for scale-free heat treating. The retort minimizes atmosphere consumption, shortens the purge time and helps achieve lower dew points. A gasketed door assembly with clamping handles insures a positive seal against the front flange of the retort. A retort flange is provided with a water cooled collar, which reduces the flange temperature and possible distortion that could develop from the furnace heat. The 5000 AM models are rated for 2150F operation and can be used with inert or flammable atmosphere.
