Sierra Monitor Corp. (SMC) offers the Sentry gas risk management system. Historically, hazardous gas monitoring systems provided simple alarm output from individual detectors. When users required integration of alarm points, they either developed a system with extensive hard wires, shifted alarm strategy and control to an external MMI package, or integrated a third-party PLC. Each of these alternatives involves risk of error, multiple vendors or a less robust system. The new Sentry Commander interfaces with the Sentry hazardous gas risk management system. The Commander is a central processor, providing consolidated alarm information, easy zone alarm development, printer or serial out put and interface to plant-wide systems.
