SACMI: EkoLine Tile Packaging Solutions
Over 70 EkoWrapp, EkoSort and EkoRoll tile sorting line packaging solutions have been installed around the world. Designed and continuously upgraded to respond to changing market demands, the new Eko-Line by Sacmi Group company Nuova Fima reportedly offers a solution for all end-of-line requirements. EkoWrapp and EkoRoll packaging machines can reportedly reduce cardboard consumption by up to 65% while boosting output rates, and the EkoSort offers a simplified sorting system that can be set up directly via the software and used whatever the packaging size or thickness, thus minimizing the time needed for size changeovers.
“What’s proved to be a real winner is the combined use of the three EkoWrapp, EkoRoll and EkoSort solutions when it comes to managing the most commonly packaged sizes, from 15 x 90 to 75 x 150 or from 20 x 120 to 90 x 180, basically covering the entire range of market demand,” said Giuseppe Miselli, engineer and sales manager for Italy.
Advantages of these machines reportedly include 100% protection of the product perimeter, minimization of gluing points, reduced waste, and lower disposal costs, enabling ceramic manufacturers to achieve savings of over 50% on cardboard and 30% on glue while increasing efficiency and flexibility. With its cardboard rolls, pre-colored blanks and high-efficiency tile sorting and clearing systems, the EkoLine by Nuova Fima “has also proved to be successful from a labor standpoint,” said Miselli.
