Homer Laughlin Union Members Approve New One-Year Contract
The members of Homer Laughlin’s union have reportedly voted to approve a new one-year labor contract with Homer Laughlin. Union officials informed Homer Laughlin that voting by members of the Glass, Molders, Pottery, Plastics & Allied Workers Union (GMP) Local 419 was recently completed and that the agreements have been ratified.
“This ‘yes’ vote is good news for Homer Laughlin, and it is good news for Newell, the unions, our employees and, ultimately, our customers,” said Elizabeth McIlvain, president of Homer Laughlin. “We are gratified that our represented employees have solidly backed this contract. It provides an excellent job package, but also allows for the continued manufacture of our high-quality dinnerware, made right here in West Virginia, USA.”
Union leaders and Homer Laughlin reached agreement on the labor contract in the early hours of November 16, after two weeks of negotiations. Approximately 600 union-represented employees are covered by the approved contracts.
