NSG Glass Chosen for Apple’s New California Campus
The NSG Group's Optiwhite™ extra-clear glass has been adopted for Apple’s new headquarters in California. The 2.8 million-sq-ft headquarters is to be completed by the end of 2016. Dubbed “The Spaceship” because of its 360-degree curved glass fronted walls and central courtyard, it will house 13,000 staff and contain a 1,000-seat auditorium, a gym and 300,000 sq ft of research space.
Optiwhite has been adopted for the headquarter’s façade and canopies. Optiwhite is a low-iron, extra-clear float glass that reportedly is practically colorless and has no green tint inherent to regular float glass. Its neutral color provides a borderless feeling between the inside and outside of a building. Together with Sedak, NSG has begun the development of a unique Optiwhite for the project, creating special colors and extra-large size.
