Alfred University’s Wu Receives Global Star Award
Yiquan Wu, Ph.D., assistant professor of materials science at the Kazuo Inamori School of Engineering at Alfred University (AU), recently received a Global Star Award from the American Ceramic Society’s (ACerS) Engineering Ceramics Division at the 2016 International Conference and Expo on Advanced Ceramics and Composites (ICACC). The award recognizes Wu’s contributions to the Engineering Ceramics Division and the ICACC.
In addition to his work with those two groups, Wu assisted in co-organizing the 10th International Symposium on Advanced Processing and Manufacturing Technologies for Structural and Multifunctional Materials and Systems in the ICACC conference. Wu is president-elect of ACerS’ Ceramics Education Council, a program co-chair of ACerS’ Basic Science Division, member of the International Advisory Board of the 6th International Congress of Ceramics, and symposium organizer for several upcoming conferences.
Wu earned a doctorate in materials science from Imperial College, London. His research interests include advanced ceramics, optical materials, nanostructured materials for energy, biomaterials, and functional films and coatings. Some of Wu’s research sponsors include the Air Force Office of Scientific Research, Office of Naval Research, National Science Foundation, Corning Inc., Sandia National Laboratory, European Union Marie Curie Actions Program, Center for Advanced Ceramic Technology, Brookhaven National Laboratory, and Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
