Norwegian Church Utilizing NSG Group Glazing Wins Architectural Award
Pilkington Insulight™ Protect Triple from NSG Group was used for the community church in Knarvik, which won the Popular Choice Award of Architizer A+ Awards 2015. Architizer is a network for high-end architecture online. The winners were chosen by a jury of over 300 distinguished leaders from diverse fields and over 200,000 general voters.
The wooden church in Hordaland county, Norway, was highly praised for its innovative design and modern façade. Houses and buildings in cold climates have traditionally avoided large windows because heat is largely lost through these openings. However, with the use of the highly insulated Pilkington Insulight Protect Triple, temperatures can be maintained indoors, enabling a design using glass extensively even in cold regions. The glass is a triple IGU (insulated glass unit) consisting of low-e coated glass with high thermal performance and safety-oriented laminated glass. The glass used for the church reaches its ceiling and is as high as 5 m.
