Acme Brick is Breaking New Ground
Acme Brick is expanding in Arkansas to meet growing demand.
Acme Brick Co. executives, including President and CEO Dennis Knautz, recently joined Springdale, Ark., Mayor Doug Sprouse and other local officials to turn the first shovels of soil for Acme’s new showroom and warehouse at 4877 N. 45th St. The facility, comprising a 6,256-sq-ft showroom and office, as well as a 14,494-sq-ft warehouse, will sit on 5.78 acres of property that will provide ample customer parking.
“This new facility is a demonstration of our confidence in the growth potential for this dynamic region of Arkansas,” said Knautz.
Acme established its first Northwest Arkansas sales presence about 40 years ago. Since then, the company’s nine-county service area has tripled in population—from 186,000 in 1970 to well over half a million today. To keep pace with this growth, Acme has increased brick production and added a wide range of products. As a result, the company has outgrown the current location at 1607 N. Thompson St. The new facility is scheduled for completion in early 2017.
Founded in 1891, Acme Brick is the nation’s largest brickmaker. Acme owns 26 brick plants and has 69 company-owned sales offices across 14 states, as well as a nationwide network of independent distributors. Other Acme operations include American Tile & Stone, Featherlite Building Products, Innovative Building Products, and Texas Quarries. Acme Brick has been a wholly owned subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway, Inc. since 2000.
