Kyocera Industrial Ceramics Corp. recently celebrated a groundbreaking ceremony for a $10 million expansion of its manufacturing operations in Vancouver, Wash. Planned for completion during this calendar year, the new construction reportedly will expand Kyocera’s existing 40,000-sq-ft facility by 45%, to 58,000 sq ft, and could create up to 30 new employment positions over the next few years. The facility currently employs 125 workers on three shifts. Conceived as a research and development center for advanced ceramic materials, the facility now serves as a specialty custom-order manufacturer of high-added-value engineered ceramic components.
