Industry Mourns Following Death of ASCER President Zarzoso

The Spanish Ceramic Tile Manufacturers’ Association (ASCER) recently announced the death of its president, Isidro Zarzoso. A well-known personality in the ceramic tile industry, Zarzoso died on January 3 at the age of 76.
A self-made businessman who belonged to a family with a long tradition in the tile industry, Zarzoso had extensive experience in the ceramic sector. He came to ASCER in 1982 as member of the governing board; he assumed the presidency in 2013 after the death of Joaquín Piñón.
Zarzoso steered ASCER through complex economic times for the industry. A key accomplishment during his term as president was the renewal of antidumping investigations regarding Chinese imports to the European Union. The anti-dumping investigation brought by Morocco against Spain was also successfully closed during his tenure.
