Hall China’s Thompson Passes Away
Thompson’s family roots can be traced to several potteries in the East Liverpool area.
John C. Thompson, longtime chairman of the board of Hall China Co., passed away January 4, 2018, at East Liverpool City Hospital. He was 91. His family roots can be traced to several potteries in the East Liverpool area. A graduate of East Liverpool High School, Phillips Academy, and Yale University, Thompson also studied at the Wharton School of Finance and served in the U.S. Naval Reserves, where he was called to duty in Japan during the Korean Conflict. Upon his return, Thompson joined Hall China, where he eventually succeeded John T. Hall as president and chief executive.
