3D Multi-Layer Glass Printing
A recent lobby update at EY provided Dip-Tech glass decorating technologies with the opportunity to shine.
EY (formerly Ernst & Young), a global leader in financial solutions, recently updated its Israel location’s office lobby. The project included a glass wall cladding project featuring a 3D wood-like texture that was realized using Dip-Tech technology. The 3D texture is complimented with Dip-Tech’s active glass appearance, a technique that allows a printed surface to change its appearance when back lit, but retain its normal appearance when not. The project process and graphics were developed by Elkeslasi Surface Design of Israel, while the glasses were printed by KH Tasarim, Istanbul, Turkey.
The Dip-Tech Extra Durable Side-1 (S1) inks used in this project were carefully formulated for interior glass surface applications using digital printing to create attractive surface designs. The inks reportedly offer: high chemical, scratch, and environmental resistance; enhanced resilience (specially designed for printing on the external side of the glass); glare and reflection reduction; environmental sustainability (free of lead and cadmium); and compliance with industry standards and durability requirements.
The inks are available in black and white, with the option of mixing to achieve shades of gray. They can be processed using the same standard firing and tempering procedures used across the industry. In addition, a wide range of digital print applications and different levels of opacity can be created for both interior design and building construction purposes.
For the EY project, the use of Dip-Tech Extra Durable S1 enabled the creation of a multi-functional surface, providing 3D and active glass features while maintaining extreme chemical and scratch durability. In addition, using this technology reportedly enabled the glass processor, KH Tsarim, to serve a new market—luxurious multi-functional interior surfaces.
“The variation of ink thickness on the glass surface, and the resulting 3D effect, is impossible without Dip-Tech digital innovative technology and Extra Durable S1 ink,” said a representative with KH Tasarim.
