April 2018 World Crude Steel Production Increases over 4%
The crude steel capacity utilization ratio in April 2018 was 76.9%, which is 2.4 percentage points higher than April 2017.
World crude steel production for the 64 countries reporting to the World Steel Association was 148.3 Mt in April 2018, a 4.1% increase compared to April 2017. Specific production figures included:
- Brazil—3 Mt, an increase of 1.9% compared to April 2017
- China—76.7 Mt, up 4.8%
- France—1.4 Mt, up 10.7%
- India—8.7 Mt, up 5.6%
- Italy—2.1 Mt, up 3.7%
- Japan—8.7 Mt, down 0.4%
- South Korea—5.9 Mt, up 7.1%
- Spain—1.3 Mt, up 7.5%
- Turkey—3 Mt, down 3.1%
- Ukraine—1.7 Mt, up 6%
- U.S.—6.9 Mt, up 3.6%
The crude steel capacity utilization ratio of the 64 countries in April 2018 was 76.9%, which is 2.4 percentage points higher than April 2017. Compared to March 2018, it is 2.4 percentage points higher.
