SCHOTT LED Cabin Lighting System Receives German Innovation Award
Out of over 650 entries, the jury of the German Design Council reportedly recognized SCHOTT’s LED cabin lighting system for its concept and performance.
The HelioJet® SpectrumCC SCHOTT LED cabin lighting system recently received the German Innovation Award in the Lighting Solutions category. Out of over 650 entries, the jury of the German Design Council reportedly recognized SCHOTT’s LED cabin lighting system for its concept and performance.
“This LED lighting system, which was specially developed for aircraft cabins, provides maximum homogeneous lighting and color stability for a broad range of lighting scenarios, including exact brand colors,” said the German Design Council. “This groundbreaking system also uses considerably fewer LEDs, thus cutting costs.”
Armin Plichta, Ph.D., director of SCHOTT’s Aviation & Automotive Business, accepted the award at a ceremony in Berlin on June 6. “We have an LED lighting system that is very different from the rest,” he said. “And we are very excited that the jury awarded our unique product layout and extraordinary performance.”
HelioJet technology feeds in light from both sides into an optical light converter. A sensor system measures and regulates each LED, ensuring even light distribution and color stability throughout the entire cabin over the entire lifetime. According to SCHOTT, HelioJet is the only system worldwide that allows replacing lamps after years, with no visible difference between old and new LEDs.
