Production Fairly Flat for Crude Steel in August 2018
The U.S. produced 7.5 Mt of crude steel in August 2018, an increase of 5.1% compared to August 2017.
World crude steel production for the 64 countries reporting to the World Steel Association was 151.7 Mt in August 2018, a 2.6% increase compared to August 2017. Specific production and comparisons include:
- China—80.3 Mt, an increase of 2.7% compared to August 2017
- France—0.9 Mt, down 16.8%
- India—8.8 Mt, up 3.7%
- Italy—1.2 Mt, up 6%
- Japan—8.8 Mt, up 0.9%
- South Korea—6.1 Mt, unchanged
- Spain—1.2 Mt, up 6.6%
- Turkey—3 Mt, down 5.7%
- Ukraine—1.8 Mt, down 3.7%
- U.S.—7.5 Mt, up 5.1%
