October 2018 Sees Moderate Increase for Global Steel Production
World crude steel production saw a 5.8% increase in October 2018 compared to October 2017.
World crude steel production for the 64 countries reporting to the World Steel Association was 156.6 Mt in October 2018, a 5.8% increase compared to October 2017. Specific production levels are listed below:
- China—82.6 Mt, up 9.1% compared to October 2017
- France—1.3 Mt, down 3.5%
- India—8.8 Mt, up 0.4%
- Italy—2.3 Mt, up 1.1%
- Japan—8.6 Mt, down 4.5%
- South Korea—6.2 Mt, up 3.5%
- Spain—1.3 Mt, down 7.4%
- Turkey—3.2 Mt, down 4.3%
- U.S.—7.6 Mt, up 10.5%
- Ukraine—1.8 Mt, down 6.7%
