Researchers from the Tomsk State University in Russia and the Institute of Strength Physics and Materials Science SB RAS are developing samples of a ceramic that will reportedly be impervious to extreme temperatures. Their goal is to make a ceramic that can withstand temperatures up to 3,000°C for use in the aerospace industry. The materials were shown at the Second International Conference and Expo on Ceramics and Composite Materials, July 25-26 in Berlin, Germany.
