Last week, readers were most interested in SCHOTT’s announcement regarding an innovative application for one of its glass-ceramic products (Eco-Friendly Wood-Burning Stove Equipped with SCHOTT Glass-Ceramic Fire Viewing Panels): “The Aduro Hybrid stove, which recently received the European Business Award for the Environment in the Sustainable Products and Services category, is equipped with ROBAX® glass-ceramic fire viewing panels from SCHOTT. The glass-ceramic fire viewing panels reportedly support better combustion with fewer emissions and make the product design even more attractive.
“The hybrid stove from Danish company Aduro reduces the inconvenience of a wood-burning stove while satisfying consumer hopes. It lets users enjoy the flames when using firewood, while also enabling nighttime heating with wood pellets that are recharged automatically. According to Aduro, the stove’s wood pellet combustion significantly reduces carbon monoxide, organically bound carbon (OGC) and particulate matter emissions.
“The Aduro Hybrid is equipped with a curved front panel and two flat side windows made of the glass-ceramic ROBAX. According to SCHOTT, the panels not only support the stove’s modern, Nordic design, but also significantly improve combustion compared to an open fireplace. The glass-ceramic is highly temperature resistant and can withstand extreme heat and cold shocks without changing shape, even brief temperatures of up to 760°C. This reportedly enables optimal combustion in closed systems with fewer emissions and doubles the efficiency of a glass heater burning wood compared to an open fireplace.”
