In a first-of-its-kind demonstration, researchers at the Department of Energy’s Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) have vitrified low-activity waste from underground storage tanks at the Hanford Site, immobilizing the radioactive and chemical materials within a durable glass waste form.
According to the company, NIR-B Glass provides accurate profiling of glass furnaces and increases capacity by optimizing temperatures in glass melt tanks.

AMETEK Land recently announced that it has standardized all certificates of conformity for its fixed thermal imagers and line scanners, including the ARC, NIR, NIR-B borescope, LSP-HD line scanner, FTI-Eb borescope and FTI-E instruments.
The presentation reports on the findings of AMETEK Land and Simpson Combustion and Energy research that was carried out into apparent flame temperatures and corresponding NOx levels within the glass melt process.
