Corning Inc. recently announced that Obi Worldphone™, designing in collaboration with Ammunition™, has selected Corning® Gorilla® Glass 4 for its newest flagship smartphone, the Obi Worldphone SF1. The Obi Worldphone SF1 is the company’s premier 4G/LTE smartphone, featuring a raised 5-in. display made of Corning Gorilla Glass 4.

“We are delighted to collaborate with Obi Worldphone and provide Corning Gorilla Glass 4 as the cover glass of choice for its new smartphone,” said Amit Bansal, president of Corning India. “Consumers are demanding more from their mobile phones. They want devices that are thinner, lighter, and aesthetically pleasing—but also durable enough to better withstand the abuses of everyday life. Corning Gorilla Glass 4 is the ideal solution for meeting these needs.”

Gorilla Glass 4 was reportedly formulated to address consumers’ primary concern: drop and break. Corning Gorilla Glass 4 reportedly performs up to two times better than competitive glass. Gorilla Glass 4 is as thin and light as previous versions, but has been formulated to deliver improved drop performance without compromising on its superior light transmission, thinness, or light weight.

“It takes a community to create a unique technology product and customer experience, and Obi has developed a strong, global ecosystem of more than 20 companies including Corning,” said Neeraj Chauhan, co-founder and CEO. “Gorilla Glass is the ideal cover material for the aesthetics and functionality of our devices.”
