The Federal Association of the Glass Industry has elected Frank Heinricht, Ph.D., chairman of the board at Schott AG, as its new president. Heinricht will also act as president of glasstec 2016, International Trade Fair for Glass Production, Processing and Products. The glasstec presidency alternates at two-year intervals between the Federal Association of the German Glass Industry (BV Glas) and the Federal Association of the German Glazing Trade (BIV). The two organizations are conceptual sponsors of glasstec, together with the German Engineering Federation (VDMA). glasstec will take place September 20-23 at the fairgrounds in Düsseldorf, Germany.

glasstec 2016 reportedly will feature exhibits, innovative products, and solutions, with a focus on free-form, ultra-thin and solid glass, and glass used for information purposes. Other special thematic areas will be the Crafts Center with Craft LIVE, the Glass and Façade Competence Center, and the Glass Art exhibition.

The wide-ranging ancillary program of glasstec 2016 will include special shows and conferences. The main highlight will be the special show “glass technology live,” organized by Professor Stefan Behling and his team from IBK 2 (Institute of Construction Design) at the University of Stuttgart.
