Ross’s laboratory multi-shaft mixers, double planetary mixers and planetary dispersers up to 5-gal capacities are supplied with an optional workbench that can accommodate a discharge system, heater/cooler, vacuum pump and other accessories. These custom mixing stations reportedly include leveling mounts or caster wheels for mobility.

Pictured is a 1-qt double planetary mixer equipped with an air/oil hydraulic lift for raising and lowering the mix can to and from the operating position. It has two sets of interchangeable planetary agitators–helical high-viscosity stirrers and the classic rectangular blades. Product contact parts are stainless steel type 316 polished to 150-grit finish.

Rated for vacuum up to 29.5”Hg, the mixer reportedly features glass sight/charge ports and a tank light, heating/cooling jacket, and a thermocouple for measuring product temperature. An open bath hot water heater is positioned on the lower shelf of the workbench, next to a vacuum pump that is plumbed to the mixer and pre-wired to the mixer’s control panel. After each mixing cycle, the vessel is rolled over to a high-pressure follower plate discharge system for direct transfer of the finished product into cartridges or other containers.
