The 25th edition of the Tecnargilla Expo is slated to take place September 26-30 at the Expo Centre in Rimini Fiera, Italy. Tecnargilla 2014 hosted over 500 exhibitors and attracted 32,120 visitors from over 100 countries. Tecnargilla 2016 returns with exhibitions of ceramic innovations and history, the fourth edition of the Tecnargilla Design Award, and five product sectors, including a new sector exclusively for sanitaryware and tableware.

Ceramics Workshop

“Ceramic Bang” is the title of the current trend exhibition this year, curated by the Azzolini Tinuper architectural firm. Ceramic Bang will be an exhibition of new trends in materials, technology, and aesthetics focused especially on color and divided into three parts: Bang! as technology, Bang! as color, and Bang! as decoration.

The exhibition will host the following sections: IED Lab, which will showcase special projects that make alternative use of ceramic materials, carried out by the Istituto Europeo del Design in Milan; the Faenza Artistic Ceramics Museum Area, where some of the most representative pieces from the collections will be on display to illustrate the history of ceramics in the last 30 years; and a display of the works entered in the fourth edition of the Tecnargilla Design Award, set up to recognize the most innovative technologies, applications and materials used in the ceramic industry.

The theme of this year’s Tecnargilla Design Award competition is “Light and Shade.” Ten companies have entered projects that best demonstrate how technology, color, decoration, and finishes combine to create an aesthetic project on the competition’s theme. The 10 competing companies include: Colorobbia Italia, Digital Design, Esmalglass Itaca, Esmaltes, Lb Officine Meccaniche, Martinelli Ettore, Sacmi, Sertile, System Group and Torrecid Group. Technical and creative directors of ceramics companies, ceramic tile retailers, designers, and journalists will determine the winner of the competition.

Expo Product Sectors

Tecnargilla 2016 will host five product sectors in the 169,000-sq-m Rimini Expo space: Tecnargilla, Claytech, Kermat, Kromatech, and T-White. Tecnargilla offers a broad range of technologies used to produce tile, sanitaryware and tableware. It will be hosted in halls A1-A4, B1-B3, C1 and C4, and D1-D3.

Claytech, which will be held in halls A5 and C5, is a sector dedicated to brick and heavy clay manufacturing. This sector will host companies from Italy, Turkey, Egypt, France, Spain, Greece, Portugal, Germany, China, and Bulgaria in approximately 6,000 sq m of space.

The Kermat 2016 sector will include raw materials, components and semi-finished products, special ceramics applications, technological processes, inspection equipment, and manufacturing systems for special ceramics. This sector will also host a conference portion on advanced materials.

In halls B5 and D5, Kromatech will highlight aesthetic trends in ceramics with exhibitors ranging from color and materials companies to design studios. Finally, a new sector for 2016, called T-White, is dedicated to equipment and systems for sanitaryware and tableware; it will be held in halls C2-C3.

The expo center is reachable by rail, bus and car. The south entrance will be open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and admission is free, though restricted to trade visitors only.
