Forterra recently announced that it has recruited Adam Smith, formerly national sales director at Jewson, to serve as its new commercial director. With his wide-ranging knowledge of the construction industry, Smith reportedly will lead Forterra’s nationwide team of sales managers to help deliver the company’s growth ambition.

Smith brings with him almost three decades’ of experience in the construction sector, as well as an MBA from Warwick Business School. Before working for Jewson, Smith served as sales and marketing director at Tata Steel and as managing director at Corus Colorsteels. He has been tasked with improving overall revenues, as the UK building products industry is expected to grow through an increase in house building and recovering activity in the contracting sector.

“Adam’s wealth of experience in the industry makes him the perfect choice for the role of our commercial director,” said Stephen Harrison, UK managing director. “With the country’s homebuilding sector gathering pace, this is an exciting time for the company, and we wish Adam well.”

Hanson Building Products changed its name to Forterra in October 2015, following the divestment by HeidelbergCement.
