Retailers Target and Neiman Marcus recently reported breaches of customers' personal information. In last week's CI CyberNews CyberPoll, we asked readers how often they change the passwords of their online account (e.g., email or bank logins). The majority of respondents (42.8%) said they rarely change their passwords, while 28.6% of respondents never change their passwords. However, 14.2% of respondents say they switch to new passwords sometimes, and the remaining 14.2% come up with a different password each week.
One reader commented, "It's hard enough to remember all the different ones as it is without changing them on a regular basis."
Other comments included:
"Why bother? Hackers are substantially ahead of all the online retailers and email providers. If they want in, they'll get in; guaranteed!"
"Don't have accounts with them!"
